Edsel “Ed” Benjamin Deese, 86, of Gastonia passed away peacefully on Sunday December 3, 2017 surrounded by his family. Ed loved the Lord and enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing and time with his family. He will be dearly missed by many.
Ed is the son of the late William and Beulah Deese. Also preceding Ed in death are his sisters Dorothy Collins, Peggy Summey, Mildred Deese and brother Alfred Deese.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Eudena “Dean” (Smith) Deese, son Jerry E. Deese (wife Sharon), daughter Linda D. McGuirt (husband Chris), grandchildren: Matthew Deese (wife Annette), Michael Deese (wife Stacy), Darren Smith (wife Leah), Staci Smith, Logan McGuirt and Braden McGuirt; great-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Hannah, Nate, Claire, Arianna, Layton, Lawson and Keaton Rae.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. Wednesday December 6, 2017 at Chapel Grove Baptist Church, 716 Camp Rotary Road, Gastonia followed immediately by memorial services.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Ed’s name to the Chapel Grove Baptist Church Children’s Building Fund.
