Diane was the youngest of nine and though no children of her own, she was blessed and proud of her extended family and their families.
She was fortunate to have known two sets of parents. Her biological parents passed when she was very young and she was raised by her older sister. Diane always laughed about going on a first date with her sister and her soon to be husband.
Diane was a great listener. Always willing to listen to whatever you wanted to say, discuss or disclose to her. If you wanted to vent or rave she was listening. One of her home health care nurses said that Diane was so easy to open up to, talk to and share things with.
Love of her family and close friends was at the top of her list and she did not want to bother them or anyone with her troubles.
She was headstrong, determined, stubborn, opinionated, set in her ways and a fighter to the very end.
Diane is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Gene H. Kennedy; stepdaughter, Sabrina Lynn Kennedy; stepson, Shane Paul Kennedy; nieces and their extended families: Sue Hamrick, Peggy Maynor, Sandy Patterson, Patricia Owens, Terry Collier, Barbara Shumate, Michelle Carpenter, Cindy Russell, Marlene Saylor, Charlene Medlin, Kim Bradley, Gail Alala and Judy Farmer; lifelong best friend, Betty “Boots” Mitchell; friends and ladies at Allure Salon, Theresa, Lisa and April and everyone that Diane’s life touched.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Diane during a reception to be held from twelve o'clock in the afternoon until two o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 24th of June, 2021, at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park.
