When Bill was young, he lived in Florida for several years and he became an avid Gators fan. He graduated from Midfield High School in the Class of 1978 after his family moved back to Alabama. He worked and retired as a Senior Maintenance Man with Jefferson County in Bessemer after many years of service. He was a member of the Magic City Gun Club and American Legion Post 255 in Fultondale. He loved working with his hands and making things. He loved racing, football, wrestling, and motorcycles. He was a devoted family man that loved his family dearly, most of all, his kids and grandkids, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Howard, Sr. and Doris M. Brown; sister, Sue A. Reid; brother, Johnnie E. Brown, and a nephew, Scott Reid.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Pamela L. Thornton Brown; two sons, William H. Brown III (Amy) and Anthony L. Brown (Crystal); daughter, Tina L. Brown; father-in-law, Bryce A. Thornton, Sr; brother-in-law, Bryce A. Thornton, Jr; grandchildren, Michael Brown, Emma Brown, Jayden Brown, Lexie Barnett, and Eryn Brown; nieces, Cissie Reid, Joy Johnson, and Cierra Johnson; a nephew, Kevin Lagrone; and a host of friends.
Services for Bill will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, with a time of visitation to begin at 10:00 AM; a funeral service at 11:00 AM, followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
