Virginia "Peggy" Louise Perry Harris, age 92, of Gardendale/ Mount Olive Alabama, left us on September 29, 2024 to be in the presence our Lord and Savior. She will be joining her husband, Lloyd; her son, Lloyd; Jr. "Bo"; granddaughter, Jessica; infant grandson, Patrick and her parents, Adron and Annie Bell Perry.
Survivors are her daughter, Millie Johnson of Gardendale; granddaughters, Teresia Mabry of Greenville, TX; Krystal and Kellie Johnson both of Gardendale; great grandson, Lloyd Mabry of Greenville, TX and by several nieces and nephews.
Peggy along with her siblings were raised in the Republic / Mineral Springs area then moved to the North Birmingham area as young adults. There she met her future husband, Lloyd when he was repairing the old radiator heat system. He left for Korea and returned a year later, all the while they corresponded and were wed just 5 days after his return.
Peggy was a scrub nurse assisting UAB heart surgery department for 30 years, a profession she was most proud of.
Peggy was a crafter of various items and loved to garden. She especially loved the art of quilting. She also enjoyed her granddaughters sports activities. Peggy was an avid Alabama Fan and loved the Atlanta Braves.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 10:00- 11:00 October 2, 2024 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel in Magnolia Hall followed by a funeral service at 11:00. Brother Randy Jasper will officiate. Peggy will laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial gardens.
