Polly Jane Rogers Phillips, known affectionately as “PJ”, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023, at the age of 73 in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on October 15, 1949 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Polly was the daughter of Clayton and Nota Rogers.
Polly was a warm-hearted individual with a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile. She had a passion for helping others and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting. Polly’s love for the sport led her to become a proud member of the West Alabama Alabama Softball Hall of Fame. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Additionally, she was an avid Crimson Tide football fan and loved to play Pac Man.
Polly will be deeply missed by her surviving loved ones, including her twin sister Molly Rogers, sister Merrill Donald (Harold), sister Shirley Reach, grandsons Will Phillips and Preston Haynie, nephew Eddie Rogers, and best friend and caretaker Brandy Hays. She was preceded in death by her parents Clayton and Nota Rogers, her husband William “Bill” Phillips, brothers Reynolds, Bobby, Billy, and Terrill Rogers, as well as sisters Doris Drummond and Jo Ann Bailey. Polly also leaves behind many dear nephews and nieces who will cherish her memory.
A memorial service to honor Polly’s life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Cane Creek Baptist Church in Warrior, Alabama. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation period beginning one hour before.
