Ethelyne Goodwin, 95 of Fultondale, with joy arrived at her family reunion in heaven on Aug 27, 2022. She was a current member of Fultondale First Baptist Church, previous member of Black Creek Baptist Church, Fulton Springs Baptist Church and Shoal Creek Baptist Church. She loved God and tried to serve him by helping others, visiting the hospitals, nursing homes and funeral homes anytime she heard someone was there. She was a fighter and had a strong determination, always finding a way even when it looked impossible, accomplishing the things she felt were important. She loved having a good time visiting and playing games with her family and friends, she loved going places and was a regular at the Fultondale Senior Center, until her move to assisted living made it difficult. She was good at growing all kinds of plants and love sharing. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for others. Her TV was often on baseball especially the Atlanta Braves or watching her Stories on TV when she had time. She continued to enjoy walking even with her bad back, which she said she got from long days picking cotton. She would often walk to visit her neighbors and on a few occasions if her ride didn’t show up she would walk the almost 2 miles to the Senior Center, along the busy road. She always liked making new friends, many of her last ones were the residents and staff at Magnolia Village and Magnolia Ridge, where she lived after health made it necessary to move off of New Castle Road, where she had continued to live alone for 12 years after she became a widow. Most of all she loved being with and taking care of her family, as the youngest of 14 siblings she began by help out with her nieces and nephews and was still willing to after she started a family of her own. She loved raising and doing things for her boys and couldn’t wait for those grandchildren to start coming, once they did she finally started getting some girls to shop for. Interestingly each son always had a boy first, and so far her grandkids have as well. Boys or Girls she loved them so much and she enjoyed starting to meet the great grandchildren too. She usually had pictures to show and brag about All Of Her Children.
She was preceded in death by her Sweetheart, her husband, Willoughby Goodwin, her parents William & Cora Prince, all of her 13 siblings and their spouses, she also out lived all of her husband’s siblings and their spouses and many of her nieces, nephews and Dear Friends.
She is survived by her 3 son’s Rodger (Kathy) Goodwin, Randy (Pat) Goodwin and Geoff (Jennifer) Goodwin - 7 Grandchildren: Andrew Goodwin, Zachary (Cassidy) Goodwin , Susan Goodwin, Mary Catherine (Matt) Cole, Ethan (Katie) Goodwin, Shelby (Gavin) Loague and Bailey Goodwin - 9 Great grandchildren: Oliver, Quinn, Atticus, Sebastian, Beatrix, Lucas, Joshua, Barrett and Noah, also multiple nieces & nephews who love her very much.
