Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Hebson was born in Sylacauga, AL, on January 14, 1922 and passed away peacefully in Gardendale, AL, on November 8, 2016. Betty was a resident of the Presbyterian Manor for over 30 years prior to moving to Gardendale. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sylacauga.
Betty was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Hutchinson, her loving husband of 47 years, George Ross Hebson; a granddaughter, Laura Burton and a great grandchild Willy Coker.
Betty is survived by her son, Leonard R. “Rick” Hebson (Lorrie); daughters, Gladys Lynn Douglas (Ronald) and Dona Kay Adams (Kenny); grandchildren, Richard Arnold Hebson, Bret Hebson, Michael Hebson, Christopher Hebson, Rhonda Baur (Dr. Chris), Kristin Lee (Tsali), Elizabeth Douglas, Holly Highfield, and Tommy Adams; cousin, Ronnie Bell; MANY great grandchildren and a host of friends. The family extends thanks to the Magnolia Ridge Care and Rehabilitation and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care. Betty was much loved and she will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Friday, November 11, 2016 with a visitation to begin at 5:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 6:00pm. Her burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Sylacauga, AL on Saturday, November 12 at 2:00pm.
