She graduated from Groveton High School in 1962 and attended David Lipscomb University for one year afterward. Mary worked in the banking industry and held several other positions in the beginning of her career. After marrying and moving to Gardendale, Alabama, Mary was secretary/treasurer and a vital part of the family business, B&H Contracting.
Mary is survived by her husband, Michael Eric Bennett whom she was married to for 56 years, her daughter Brenda (Bennett) Allman, son Michael Wade Bennett, son-in-law Chris Allman, and daughter-in-law Tracy Bennett. She was the proud grandmother of one granddaughter and three grandsons: Hila Grace Allman, William Bennett Allman, Samuel Parish Bennett, and Noah Foster Bennett. She also leaves behind brother-in-law Reginald (Dottie) Bennett and sister-in-law Aileen (Hollis) Morris, along with nieces, nephews, family members, friends from Enon Baptist Church, and other dear family friends. She will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19 at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, Alabama.
Her life has left a legacy of loving Jesus and others. She showed us how to love because she was looking to a far greater example, Jesus. Here on earth she was transformed (2 Corinthians 5:17) in her faith walk, a sealed vessel (2 Corinthians 4:17). We find joy in knowing that she is now like Him in fullness (1 John 3:2), made in God’s image...redeemed in Christ’s image.
