Marie Bates Martin was born on December 11, 1927 and passed away Oct. 17, 2016 at the age of 88. She was a member of Faith Church of the Nazarene in Warrior, AL. Marie was a loving wife, mother and Maw Maw. She is predeceased by her husband, Clifton C. Martin; parents Luther and Ella Bates; daughter, Diane Jones; son-in-law, Charles Clowdus; and brothers George Bates and Donnie Bates. Marie is survived by her sons, Clifton Carl Martin, Jr. (Mary), Cecil Martin (Andrea); son-in-law, Rex Jones; daughter Janice Clowdus; brother, Monroe Bates; Sister, Evelyn Miller; grandchildren, Laura Van Deventer (Denver) Captain Drew Martin, USMC (Nana), Andrew Sharmin and Pat Sharmin, Brian Jones, Stacie Jones, Zachary Clowdus, Nick Clowdus; great grandchildren Max Martin and Ava Martin. Visitation will be held from 12-1pm with a Funeral Service at 1pm Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 with burial following at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
