Joy was a member of Center Point Independent Church. She enjoyed working with ceramics, traveling, the beach, and kayaking. She loved to laugh and have a good time. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother and she cherished the time she spent with her family. Her sense of humor and infectious laughter will be greatly missed.
Joy was preceded in death by her father, John Raymond Perkins, grandparents, R. B. Perkins and Ola Mae Perkins, as well as French L. Meadows and Iona Meadows, and a sister, Jan C. Nelson.
Joy is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Terry Storey; mother, Jean Meadows Perkins of Tarrant; daughters, Jennifer Roberts (Michael) of Warrior, Emily Nalley (Alan) of Athens, and Amanda Clements (Blake) of Athens; one granddaughter, Avery Nalley; brothers, Jay and Jeff Perkins of Tarrant; sisters: Jackie S. Layne (Keith) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Jill R. Mosley (Tom) of Pinson; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Celebration of life services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, on Sunday, February 17, 2019, with a time of visitation to begin at 2:00 pm; service will begin at 3:00 pm, followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale. The service will be officiated by Dr. Chris Lamb, pastor of Glen Iris Baptist Church.
