Ima Ruth Willingham

August 21, 1926 – July 31, 2015

Ruth a resident of Fultondale, formerly of Tarrant, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 88. Ruth retired from work as a lunchroom manager at Boyles and Tarrant Elementary Schools. She was an avid Alabama fan and she was a member of Oak Station missionary Baptist Church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Annie Bannister; her loving husband of 56 years, Dewey Willingham; brothers, Sherman, Coy, Adron, and Dalton; and a sister, Bernice.

Ruth is survived by her son, Jimmie Willingham (Sherry), daughter, Renee Willoughby (Joe); a grandson, Rob (Katie); a granddaughter, Chelbi; great grandchildren, Chandler, Madison, Corrine, and Allie; sister, Faye Campbell (Don); a sister-in-law, Virginia Guger; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their care and support.

Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with a visitation Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm; a funeral, Monday, August 3, 2015 at 2:00pm followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
