Born May 26, 1941 to William Ellis Franklin and Merle Elline Lambert Franklin, Faye grew up in Eastlake, Alabama, and graduated from Woodlawn High School. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill Franklin (Vicky), her brother-in-law David Gibbs (Janice), and her precious granddaughter Meredith Powers. Faye accepted her Lord as her Savior at an early age and was baptized; she later became a member of First Baptist Church Mount Olive. In her earlier years, Faye enjoyed tennis, golf, shopping, decorating, painting, camping, and crafting. However, her pride and joy was her family. She loved others completely and always put their needs ahead of her own.
Faye is survived by the love of her life, Eddie Powers. They celebrated 61 years of marriage recently. She is also survived by her sister Janice Gibbs, by her children Greg Powers (Donna), Jeff Powers (Jhan), and Sherri Wade (David). In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Matt Wade (Chloe), Ethan Powers(Rachel), Adam Powers(Jacie), Sera Powers Bobo(Hunter), Austin Wade, Dalton Wade(Lauren), and Jacob Powers. Her great grandchildren are Evie and Easton Wade, and Riggins, Jett, and Eli Powers, along with her nephew Scott Gibbs (Stacy) and her great nieces Madison and Mallory Gibbs. Her family and loved ones weep because we will miss her, but we know without a doubt that we will see her again one day in Heaven.
Her services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, with family gathering at 12:00 and friends gathering from 1:00-2:00 for visitation at Gardendale Ridout’s Chapel at 2029 Decatur Highway Gardendale, AL 35071. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with entombment following at Oakwood Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Matt Wade, Ethan Powers, Adam Powers, Austin Wade, Dalton Wade, Jacob Powers, and Hunter Bobo. Brother Doug Moore will be officiating.
Special thanks to Dr. Anthony Turkiewicz, who took wonderful care of her over the years. Also, special thanks to Unto the Lord Elder Care’s owner, Marcie Vandegrift and caregivers Krysten Hocutt and LaTricia Crusoe Witherspoon.
