Mr. Derrick Rakeem Thomas was born November 15, 1976 in Montgomery, AL to the proud parents of Deryl and Yvonne Mack Thomas. Derrick was a military baby and was privileged to have lived overseas in Kaiserslautern, Germany as well as Montana and Indiana before his family returned to their native home settling in the small town of Warrior, AL.
This 1995 graduate of Warrior High School played football and his love for the game intensified as he was a passionate Auburn Football fan!! War Eagle!!!
Derrick’s greatest joy was becoming the proud father of Trason and Traylon, whom he absolutely adored.
The love he and his brother Damian shared is beyond words! They were not only brothers, but best friends. “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”( Romans 12:10)
He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Eugene “Luck” and Maudie Thomas; maternal grandparents Jessie and Josie Mae Mack.
Derrick drifted into eternal slumber early Saturday June 15, 2019 at UAB, Gardendale surrounded by his praying family.
Those left to mourn his loss, yet cherish his humorous memory are his parents Deryl and Yvonne Thomas, children, Traylon and Trason Thomas and their mother Beverly Little, brothers: Damian and Jamar (Lupe) Thomas; sister; Summer Howard Thomas; special homeboys Monroe Dudley, Tavares “Cap” Watts, Jason “Pilk” Pilkington, and a host of other loving family members and friends.
