Dale Howse

Aaron Dale Howse, who was 88 years old and lived in Gardendale, Alabama, passed away on April 24, 2024. He was born on June 15, 1935, in Cullman, Alabama, to Aaron F. Howse and Bertha B. Howse, who have both passed away.

Dale followed in his father's footsteps and became a master carpenter. He taught carpentry to high school students in Fultondale and Gardendale and even drove a school bus for the students in the area for 27 years. He worked for the Jefferson County Board of Education until he retired. Dale was known for his attention to detail and his projects always took longer than expected, but they were always perfect. His last carpentry project was a seven-foot-tall cross that he built to honor his grandson Blake. The cross was installed on family property at Smith Lake. Dale enjoyed using his carpentry skills to bless others and he always had a Blowpop to give to brighten someone's day. Dale was also known for his storytelling. You never knew where his stories would go or how long they would be, but they were always worth the time. Dale loved spending time with his family, gathered around a wonderful meal, creating memories during family events no matter where they were.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron F. Howse and Bertha B. Howse, his sister Sharla Ann Howse, his grandson Blake Abercrombie, and his sister-in-law Linda Bryan. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dru B. Howse, his daughter Cathy L. Howse, his daughter and son-in-law Debbie Howse Abercrombie and Dennis, his grandson and granddaughter in law Jordan and Brittney Abercrombie, his granddaughter-in-law and her husband Amanda Abercrombie Langdon and Ryan, his great-grandchildren Blakely and Jack Abercrombie and Avery and Brooks Abercrombie, his brother-in-law Morgan "Buck" Bryan, and many other extended relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel. A Celebration of Dale's Life will begin at 11:00 am in the Fireside Room.
