Gwendolyn C. Anderson

Gwendolyn Coral Anderson, 95, passed away on February 26, 2022 in Garden Grove, CA. She was born in Loup City, Nebraska to Romeo and Coral (Leininger) Conger On August 5, 1926. She attended Loup City High School and Dana College in Blair, Nebraska.

Gwen met her future husband Orville F. Anderson while in the Methodist church choir. During their courtship, she was working as a movie script girl for MGM studios in Culver City. In 1946, Gwen and Orville were married and she lovingly took over care of the home. Together they had three children: David, Nancy and Kerry.

Gwen was a member of the Garden Grove United Methodist Church and participated in the choir for many years. She always enjoyed the ice cream socials and holiday boutiques. She also volunteered with the Garden Grove Historical Society for Heritage House and was a 75-year member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic organization that supports women's education.

Gwen had a good sense of humor. She used many forgotten old timey phrases to get to the point. She enjoyed singing, dancing, gardening and reading biographies of movie stars and U.S. Presidents. If we could describe Gwen in four words, they would be sweet, loving, funny and feisty. We will always cherish the many memories she shared with us over the years.

She is survived by her children: David Anderson, Nancy Riley and Kerry Ritchie; her grandchildren: Jamie Anderson, Mardi Woodside-Halsey, Michael Anderson and Danny Anderson; and her great-grandchildren: Tyler Kilgus, Astraea Anderson, Makenna Anderson, Devyn Anderson, Piper Anderson, Lila Halsey and Jack Halsey.

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband Orville F. Anderson. She will be laid to rest with him at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California in a private ceremony.

A memorial service for Gwen will be held on Saturday March 19, 2022 at 3:00 pm at the Garden Grove United Methodist Church 12741 Main Street, Garden Grove, CA 92840
