James Thomas "Tony" Watson, Sr., 58, passed away suddenly while on vacation in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. He was doing what he loved in his favorite part of the world with his wife, daughter, and friends.
Born Savannah, GA, Tony was a 1974 graduate of Savannah High School and attended the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and Armstrong State College. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Beachcombers Corvette Club, Virginia Beach, VA; Peninsula Habitat for Humanity Board Member, Hampton Roads, VA; MROC Land Rover Club, West Midlands England, UK; and was a Lifelong car enthusiast with a passion for Corvettes.
Tony began his career in the Plumbing & Heating Supply industry at Davis Supply in Savannah GA. He later worked at the RAL Corporation in Fairfield NJ for several years. In 1992, Tony joined Ferguson Enterprises to help build and strengthen their team in Orlando, FL. He held various positions at Ferguson in Orlando and later in Newport News VA. He found his passion in logistics, and Information Technology solution implementations. His hard work and dedication allowed him an opportunity to begin working for Ferguson's parent company, Wolseley Group in the United Kingdom. Throughout his career, Tony always built strong, functioning teams that enjoyed great accomplishments and success. He was well respected by his peers, leaders, and the team that worked with him every day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera Maude Middleton Watson, Thomas Eason Watson and his sister, Lisa Dale Watson.
Tony loved his family and worked every day to make life better for them. He adored his wife Kathy and they traveled the world together on their many holidays. Brooke and Jamie were the apple of his eye. Jamie recently married his partner of 12 years, Michel, and Tony proudly attended the wedding and supported his family as he always did. Words cannot express our gratitude to all of our friends, family, and colleagues for their strength, support, and prayers during this time.
Survivors include wife of 37 years, Kathleen Bragg Watson; children, James Thomas "Jamie" Watson, Jr. and spouse Patrick "Michel" of Pooler GA, Melissa Brooke Watson of Pooler GA; several aunts, uncles, cousins, neices and nephews.
Tony had a lifelong passion for children's health, wellness, and pediatric cardiology.
