Robert Franklin Burris Jr.

Robert Franklin Burris Jr., 78, of Gahanna, passed away on April 25, 2023 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Robert was born June 12, 1944 in Salem, New Jersey to the late Robert Franklin Burris and Edna (Coleman) Burris.

Robert spent much of his youth working along side his father on the farm. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for the next four years. While enlisted in the Air Force, he met his future wife, Judy Ann Taylor. After leaving the Air Force, Robert spent a good part of his professional career as a salesman, and was nationally recognized for car sales on two separate occasions, once while selling Mazda's, and once again for selling Merkur. He dedicated his life to volunteering and serving others as a Lions Club member, and he served served two terms as the president of the Gahanna Lions Club. When he wasn’t working you could find him singing karaoke, watching golf or old westerns on TV, and spending time with his family and pets.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Judy Ann Taylor Burris; parents, Robert Franklin Burris and Edna Ahdela (Coleman) Burris and grandparents; Mary Hazel Lidd, Harry Cleveland Coleman, Helen Louise Shinn and Arthur Hesse Burris. He survived by his brother Arthur Burris, his sister Carol (Ron) Spath, his five sons; Jay (Jennifer) Burris, Daniel Burris, Kelly (Kristen) Burris, Shane (Marie) Burris, and Andre Burris; adopted daughter Mariama Saliou Diallo, grandchildren, Molly Burris, Kaitlyn Niehaus, Taylor Burris, Madison Burris, Miranda Burris, Brady Burris, Ashley Burris, Mason Burris and adopted granddaughter Alima Saliou Ba.

A visitation for Robert will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High St, Worthington, OH 43085, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Gahanna Lions Club, 1261 Amberlea Drive West, Gahanna, Ohio 43230.
