Born in Columbus, Ohio on July 25, 1934 to Ray and Ellen Hiland, who preceded her in death along with her brother, Jim, sister-in-law Julie, and niece Jackie (Hiland) House. She graduated from West High School in 1952 and worked at Battelle as secretary. In 1954 her brother introduced her to his friend from church camp, Richard “Slip” Wagner and a beautiful love story started.
They married in 1955 and happily raised a family until Slip’s passing in 2022. They’re missed by their three children; Lynda (Darren) Lucas; Tom (Suzanne), and Jim Wagner. They are blessed with 5 granddaughters- Amanda (Paul) Kronk, Paige Wagner (Adam Love), Haley Wagner, Abbey Lucas, Kelsey Lucas (CJ Stahl) and three great-grandchildren, Keaton Love, and Remington and Amelia Kronk.
Nancy adored her granddaughters and delighted in taking care of them throughout their school years, and attending their sporting events and performances. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews in whose lives she was very involved.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230, from 11am – 12pm. Nancy’s service will begin immediately following at 12pm. Services will conclude with interment at Mifflin Township Cemetery.
Her sweet nature and caring demeanor will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Capital City Hospice for their wonderful care and support. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Capital City Hospice or The Alzheimer’s Association.
