Michael Leo Thomas

Michael Leo Thomas, age 74 of Gahanna, passed away on June 28, 2023. He was born March 1, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Hiram and Helen (Wilson) Thomas. Michael was a graduate of East High School in Columbus, attended The Ohio State University and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Ohio Finance Fund, was the former director of the Columbus Neighborhood Housing Services and served on many community boards. Michael never met a stranger and enjoyed music, photography and traveling in his spare time.

Michael was preceded in passing by his parents, Hiram and Helen Thomas, his sister Ida (Thomas) McGee, and his brother Delmar Thomas.

Michael is survived by his wife of 52 years Marguerite (Hawkins) Thomas, mother-in-law Marchane Hawkins, children Amber Poindexter and Jamil Thomas, son-in-law Alvin Poindexter, daughter-in-law Emily Adams, four grandsons, Miles Poindexter, Malcolm Poindexter, Judah Thomas and Leo Thomas, sister Delmara Thomas, and many relatives and friends.

Remembrance at Schoedinger Northeast 1051 E Johnstown Rd, on Friday, July 7. Visitation at 10AM followed by funeral service at 11AM.
