He was born August 21, 1939 in Akron, Ohio the son of Edwin and Annabelle Young who precede him in death. He is survived by his wife Julia Young, one sister Ellen Metz, son Todd Young and wife Audrey, daughters Jodi Wells and husband Jeff. Holly Hanlon and husband Dylan, granddaughters Sidney Young, Taylor Waters, Kennedy Wells, Addie Hanlon, grandsons Jake Young, Luke and Owen Hanlon, step daughters Jamie Srbljan and husband Ryan, Jennifer Massier and wife Lauri, and step grandchildren Riley and Jovie Srbljan.
In his youth, Evan was active in the boy scouts, achieving Eagle Scout, competed in soap box derby racing and had his own cottage cheese delivery route. Evan attended high school at Kiskiminetas Springs, obtained his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathy. He practiced orthopedic surgery at Grandview Hospital in Dayton where he was instrumental in training orthopedic residents. He also practiced in Greenville Ohio and Carson City Michigan. He distinguished himself with membership m the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and completed a fellowship in the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.
He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, hunting, reading, cooking, wine tasting and The Ohio State Football. He was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, and enjoyed seeing the success they had this past year. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.
A celebration of his life will take place at a future date. Memorial contributions can be made to his favorite charity, Wounded Warriors Project.
