Carolyn Sue Merriett, age 79, of Blacklick, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on August 21, 1945 to the late Donald and Ruth (Smith) Solt. Apart from about five years in Catonsville, Maryland, Carol lived most of her adult life and raised her family in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio.
Her family will remember Carol as an extremely kind, patient and accepting wife, mother, grandmother and sibling. The support she showed through situations, good and bad, was unwavering and unconditional. And the imprint she leaves on her descendants will make an impact for generations to come. Without ever seeking credit or thanks, she was the cornerstone of her family and the most important person in any room.
Carol achieved her primary goal in life, above any career or individual accomplishment. She had two happy children and three happy grandchildren. She showered love and attention on them and supported all their dreams and ambitions. Her grandchildren at ages 8, 4 and 2 are already displaying some of the qualities she instilled in them.
Carol is survived by her immediate family consisting of devoted husband William Merriett, her daughter Raigena Merriett, her son Steve Merriett, her son-in-law Antonio Estrada, and three granddaughters – Clara, Elise and Luisa Merriett. She also leaves behind her sister Patricia Cook and three brothers, Ronald (Linda) Solt, Roger (Gretchen) Solt and Rick (Sandra) Solt and many nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her brother Russell Solt and her brother-in-law Robert Cook.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date.
