Brandon Willis died on June 3, 2022. He was 20 years old. Brandon was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 15, 2001, to parents, Mary and Steve Willis. Brandon was an active, happy child and that happiness continued right up through manhood. He always had a smile on his face and was kind and giving to everyone he met. Even though Brandon’s life was cut way too short, he had a lot of experiences and accomplishments. He was on the Polar Bears swim team. He was on the New Albany High School Track and Cross Country teams. He was on the Digital Eagles Robotics team and went to the World Championship. He was in Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and Jazz Band. He went to South Africa with the New Albany STEM class and studied animal tracking and preservation with Original Wisdom training. He became an amazing photographer and was able to use his talents in South Africa.
Brandon is survived by his parents, his sister Lindsey and his niece Chloe. His memory lives on with the many who knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to his celebration of life on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 3-7pm. The celebration in his honor will be at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230.
In lieu of flowers, we would ask friends and family to consider donating to “The Brandon Willis Legacy Scholarship Fund through Original Wisdom.” To make contributions to Brandon's Legacy Scholarship, continue to scroll down to the "Memories" portion of Brandon's webpage to view a graphic with donation information. With the help of Brandon’s teacher Sandy Reed and Mary’s friend Sara Froelich, we just got this scholarship set up. 100% of the donations will go towards this scholarship fund to help other students have the same wonderful experience that he had in South Africa. Many people have asked if we had anything that Brandon would prefer in lieu of flowers and we weren't sure we would be able to get this ready in time for his celebration. We are very happy that this is ready. Brandon would be so pleased.
