William David Long, 82, of Glencoe, AL peacefully passed at home on February 29, 2024. He was born on August 9, 1941. He was married to Iris for 58 years and worked for the Steel Plant for 36 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar, writing, and tinkering with his 1973 light blue Chevrolet Truck. He was known for his McGyver style ideas. He was a member of North Glencoe Baptist Church and was a former Chairman of Deacons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Francis “Fannie” Long; his sisters, Joyce Hamilton and Faye Thomas; and brother, Julian Long.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Iris Freeman Long; daughter, Cathy (Wendell) Hicks; son, Gary (Sabrina) Long; daughter, Janie (Kent) Remund; grandchildren; Jacob Johnston (Madison), Paul Hicks (Brianna), Abby Remund Tuckett (Ethan), Jacie Remund, Cooper Long, Isaak Remund, and Emma Long; and sister, Jackie (Larry) Hayes.

Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Wendell Hicks and Kent Remund, and grandsons, Jacob Johnston, Paul Hicks, Cooper Long, and Isaak Remund.
A visitation for David will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM in the chapel. Burial will follow at Rainbow memorial gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
