A visitation for William will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral & Cremation Services, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, Alabama 35901, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
William Robert “Bob” Logan, 77, of Southside, Alabama, passed away on December 9th. He is survived by his mother, Betty Haskell; his loving wife of 53 years Rita; daughters Denise Vaughn (Jim) and Charity Carden (Jason); grandchildren, Megan Foshee (Chase), Alex Douglas (Brittany) Jessica Vaughn (Jennifer Storipan) Christopher Carden, Katie Lee (Jonah) and two great-grandchildren, Christian Douglas and Lacey Foshee. He is also survived by his brother Norman Gerlach and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Bob was born in Sarnia, Canada and was raised in Port Huron, Michigan. He moved to San Diego, California in his early twenties and joined the US Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam War, was awarded a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged. At the end of his service, he returned to San Diego where he met and married Rita. They started a family and lived in the San Diego area for many years. Looking for a slower paced life, they moved to Alabama.
Bob was a carpenter by trade and worked in many areas of the construction business until he retired. He enjoyed working on renovation and yard projects at home. He also loved cars, motorcycles and weightlifting.
