Mr. Victor Joseph Giamalva, 80, of Leesburg, AL passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church. Father Marcus Voss will officiate with burial to follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mr. Giamalva was a graduate of St. James Catholic School, Gadsden High School and Auburn University with a degree in Pharmacy. He resided in Gadsden most of his life but had lived in Leesburg for the past 15 years. Mr. Giamalva was a devoted Christian and was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church, which he adored. He had worked in hospital administration and was instrumental in bringing dialysis and open heart surgery to Gadsden. Mr. Giamalva worked at Physicians Apothecary for over 20 years and retired from there in 2013. Acting in the civic theater was his passion and cooking was his love. He was an avid Auburn Fan and was an Alumni.
Those preceding him in death are his parents, Joe and Jennie Giamalva and his sister, Pauline Copeland.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Patty M. Giamalva, Leesburg; son, Joe (Lori) Giamalva, Southside; daughter, Paige McCullars, Gadsden; grandsons, Victor, Alex and Andruw, all of Southside; granddaughters, Morgan, Sydney and Julie, all of gadsden; 3 great granddaughters; 1 great grandson; sister, Marion Giamalva, Gadsden and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jack and Mark Chaffin; Jim and Steven Shankles; Kevin Nesbit; Danny Guest; Robert Hatter and Tommy Hardin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Riverview Regional ER and 4th Floor Staff, Nurses and Staff with Alacare Hospice and all friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. James Center of Concern or the American Diabetes Association.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. K.J. Shah, G. Patel, B. Gorham, T. Catanzaro and E. Hwang and nurse, Page Johnson.
Visitation will be at St. James Catholic Church Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary service following visitation at 8:00 p.m.
