Terry Lavan Dunn

Terry Lavan Dunn passed away suddenly on January 22, 2024. He was born July 3, 1959 in Etowah County, Alabama. The family will receive immediate family at 9:00 am and friends at 10-11:00 with services beginning at 11:00am Thursday, January 25 at Collier Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden. Burial will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Southside. Rev. Bud Swindall will officiate.

He is preceded in death by his mother Shelby Jane Daugherty Dunn. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Alicia H. Dunn, daughter Andrea A. Dunn, his father Terry W. Dunn, brother Tim Dunn (Sue), sister Delilah Dunn, and his beloved dog Gabby.

He was the owner of Dunn Development Corporation and Dunn Investment Group. He served on the Etowah County Judicial Building Authority. He also proudly served for many years until present on the Board of Trustees Alabama School for Deaf and Blind where he was instrumental in raising funds for the Medical Center. He was also elected and proudly served on the Alabama Public Service Commission for four years where he made it his mission to fight for the ratepayers of Alabama. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Mark Bakane, Brian Davidson, Ken Sheffield, Jesse Dunn, Scott Royal and Scott Moates. Honorary pallbearer David Rountree and Roger Laney. Special thanks to the Southside Fire Medics, Southside Police Department, and AMed Ambulance Service.
