Sharon Lynn Reeves of Hokes Bluff, Alabama passed away on the morning of Saturday October 29, 2022 with the love of her life by her side in the comfort of her home. She was 78 years old. Sharon lived most of her life in the Caddell Circle Community of Hokes Bluff where she was born and raised. She was a member of Hokes Bluff First United Methodist church.
Sharon was born on May 30, 1944 in Gadsden, AL. She was a 1962 graduate of Hokes Bluff High School where she was a majorette in Hokes Bluffs' first marching band and served as Drum Majorette her senior year. She earned an Associate of Science degree from Gadsden State in 1971, a Bachelors of Science from UAB in 1973 and a Masters of Art from the University of Alabama in 1980. Sharon was a respected teacher who touched many children's lives in the 25 years she taught at Hokes Bluff Elementary School. Sharon was involved in the Fill My Cup ministry, Agnes Lowery Sunday School class, and United Methodist Women night circle at HBUMC. She was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma women educators sorority. After retiring from teaching in 1998, she enjoyed traveling with Cootie and their many friends. Sharon had many hobbies, days on the Coosa river boating and having fun with Cootie, children and grandchildren, planning family events, cooking, reading, babysitting grandkids and spending time with friends. Most of all Sharon was a loving and supporting wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Bruce and Jo Dean Sims, brother Alan Sims, great grandson H. K. "Kerr" Reeves IV, parents-in-law, Troy and Louise Reeves, brothers in-law Troy and Mack Reeves, sister and brother in-law Janice and Hugh Daves and niece Alaina Sims.
She is survived by husband of 60 years. Haralson Kerr "Cootie" Reeves, children: H. K. Jr. "Chip" and Kelley Reeves, Traci and Javin O'Barr, grandchildren: H. K. III "Trey" and Leiah Reeves, Abagail Reeves, Hayden Reeves, Parker Jones, Carter Jones, Banx O'Barr, Maddi O'Barr, great granddaughter Kennedy Reeves, brothers: Jeff(Emily) Sims and Greg(Trisha) Sims, sister in-laws: Bobbie Reeves, Charlotte Reeves and Joan Sims, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, and special friends.
Grandsons Trey and Hayden Reeves, Parker and Carter Jones, Banx O'Barr will serve as pallbearers along with neighbor and nephew Collin Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg, Sherry, Rodney, Charlotte, Kevin, Kathy, Jack, Nancy, Debbie, Bobbie, and Sterleen.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Nabell and staff at UAB Kirkland Clinic, Amedisys Hospice, and special nurse Haley, Compassionate Comforters Christy and special caregiver Brittany.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 1st at Collier Butler with visitation at noon and funeral at 2:00. A graveside service will be held at Crestwood Cemetery following the funeral.
Sharon was a proud contributor to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
