Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Roy Elmore “Mac” McClellan, age 93, of Gadsden, who went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on April 21, 2017, after an extended illness. Dr. Allen McClellan will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mac was born in Lincoln, AL and graduated from Glencoe High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, seeing combat duty in the South Pacific. After the war was over he began working for Republic Steel (later LTV Steel) where he was employed for 38 years.
Mac was a Little League baseball coach for several years and assisted with American Legion baseball teams. Mac loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching the University of Alabama football games and the Atlanta Braves baseball games. He was active for many years at Cross Point Community Church, formally White’s Church Baptist Church, until his illness.
Mac took great pride in his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed, but we are comforted in knowing he is now with his Heavenly Father.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mamie Thompson McClellan’ son, Ronnie Dale McClellan; brothers, Gaylon McClellan and Louie McClellan; and sisters, Eleanor Dugdale, Mary Livermore and Dorothy McClellan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruby “Louise” Morgan McClellan; son, Roy Allen (Ruth Tomczak) McClellan of Bandung, Indonesia; daughter, Sherry (George) Usry of Southside, AL; grandson, Jonathan Allen (Lindsey) McClellan of Mableton, GA; granddaughter, Joy Elizabeth McClellan of New York, NY; grandson, Stephen Andrew (Megan) McClellan of Cleveland, TN; step-grandchildren, Alan (Michelle) Usry, and Kindle (Juan) Becerra; step-great-grandchildren; Tyler Renfroe, Chance Usry, Baley Renfroe, Morgan Renfroe, Haley Usry, and Molly Usry; and soon to be 2 great-grandchildren; brother, William (Patricia) McClellan of Gadsden, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers are the players and coaches of the 1965-1967 Gaston Chicks Lit6tle League Baseball Teams; family friend, Tommy Christopher.
The family wishes to thank the following people for their wonderful care and excellent service: Dr. James Robinson and Dr. Jason Ayers and their staff at Southside Medical Clinic; Dr. Eric Blaum; Nurse, Jessica Feliciano; Dr. Lowndes Harrison; Dr. Lucian Newman III; Dr. Charles Newman; Dr. Richard Caldwell; Dr. Thomas Dowling; Dr. Hemant Sinha; the doctors, nurses, and staff with Amedisys Hospice and Camilla Hospice; all of the wonderful sitters, Betty, Donna, Angie, Jerry, Becky, Janice; the doctors, nurses, and staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center and UAB; and the late Dr. Charles Jordan, who cared for our dad for so many years.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
