Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Gallant First Baptist Church for Mrs. Mary Sue (Silvey) Galloway, who passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015. Noel Vice will officiate. Burial will be at the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Galloway was born Mary Sue Silvey on September 26, 1926. She graduated from Altoona High School in 1943. Mary Sue was known as “Moon” by close friends and family. She married Robert Lee Galloway Jr. in 1944. During World War II Mrs. Galloway worked at Camp Sibert as part of the war effort, while her husband was serving our country as a United States Marine. She later worked as a Real Estate Agent with Owen Reality in Gadsden, AL. Sue was a long time member of Attalla Country Club. She won many “Flight” awards in area ladies golf tournaments. Mrs. Galloway was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Gadsden, AL. She was an exceptional “country” cook and loved to sew. She also loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, had a love for animals and loved to travel to the beach and to the mountains.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pansey Silvey Roberts; her father, Ernest Silvey, her brothers, Gordon Silvey and Aubrey Silvey, sister, Earlene Silvey Holcomb and Son-in-law, Bill Cash.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Galloway; son, Mike Galloway and wife Myra, son, Rick Galloway and wife Sandy, daughter, Kathy Cash. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michelle Galloway Elliott, Melody Galloway Higgins, Richard lee Galloway, Renee Galloway Vice, Mathew Eric Cash, and Melissa Cash Cox. Mrs. Galloway has 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Care and the many nurses and caregivers involved and a special thank you to Patsy Yaw, Mrs. Galloway’s caregiver.
Known as “Grandmother Sue” by her family, Mrs. Galloway was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She lived a good, Christian life and provided love, laughter and comfort to all that met her.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Galloway will lie in state for one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday.
