Lynnette Elane Kirby Wright, aged 82, died peacefully in her sleep on February 21, 2017 at her home in Whorton’s Bend, after a brief struggle with cancer. Lynne was born April 24, 1934, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of Calvin Lane and Babe Ruth Pinkston.
Lynne had a distinguished career in administration and public service, culminating as a Congressional Inquiry Specialist for the Social Security Administration where she liaised directly with congressmen and congressional aides to resolve constituent inquiries. After retirement she devoted herself to caring for her husband, Jack Kirby, who suffered from alzheimer's. After his passing, Lynn met and married Jerry Wright and they enjoyed six happy years together.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wright of Whorton’s Bend; son Stephen (Sue) Huntwork of Loveland, CO; daughter Beverly (Randy) Stafford of Rome, GA; step children Cynthia (Rick) Kirby-Clark, Lucia (Duy) Nguyen, Brandall (Kathy) Wright, and Patrick (Celeste) Wright; five grandchildren, four step grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and brother, David (Marilyn) Pinkston (Richmond, CA).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Wright’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
There will be a graveside service at the Rainbow Memorial Cemetery on Friday at 11:00 am. Lauil Thompson will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the service. Collier-Butler Funeral home directing.
