Kay Frances Walker, age 78, of Gadsden, Alabama went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 30, 2021. There will be visitation from 12pm until 1pm on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Collier Butler Funeral. A graveside service will follow at 2pm at New Bethel Cemetery, Collinsville, AL. Bro. Joe Robinson will officiate. Collier Butler Funeral Home will direct services.
Mrs. Walker was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a very giving person who always put others before herself.
She was a graduate of the Holy Name of Jesus Nursing School where she received her Registered Nurse certification. She went on to work at Holy Name of Jesus Hospital (which became Riverview Regional Medical Center) for over twenty five years and later worked at Gadsden Regional Medical Center for more than 15 years. She specialized in orthopedics. She loved her career and loved taking care of others.
Mrs. Walker was a member of New Life Church of God where she taught Sunday School and sang. She was a faithful servant of God which was evident in the passion she had teaching and sharing her love for the Lord to her Sunday School Class. She was such a great teacher that many were attracted to come to her classes.
Mrs. Walker is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Lillie Houser and her brothers Jesse Houser, Jr., Charles Houser, and Arlon Houser.
She is survived by husband of 42 years, Donal Walker; daughters Tina ( Anthony) Geckles and Tonya (Wesley) Leak; grandchildren Joshua (Heather) Geckles, Jacob Geckles, Jared Pendergrass; three great grandchildren; sister Burnice Goins and Barbara Dunn; brothers Errol (Joyce) Houser, Woodrow (Patricia) Houser, Gary Houser, and Junior (Vicky) Houser; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jared Pendergrass, Joshua Geckles, Jacob Geckles, Anthony Geckles, Dakota Richards, and Sam Richards.
In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to: International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, P.O. Box 97339, Washington D.C. 20077-7472; which was dear to her.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of 7th and 8th floor of Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
