Funeral Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. James Edward Hester, age 88 of Rainbow City who passed away Friday, February 20, 2015. Bro. Lauil Thompson and Rev. Frank Samuels will officiate. Burial will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mr. Hester worked and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1987 with 43 years of service and was part of the original Top Ten Club at Goodyear. He was a Christian Man and member of College Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years. After retirement Mr. Hester was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pearl Hester, 4 brothers, 6 sisters, Nancy Thompson and Don Moman.
Mr. Hester is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret H. Hester, daughters, Vicki Hester and Kim Hester, son in law, Lauil Thompson, grandsons, Gregg (Candi) Thompson, Chris (Kathy) Thompson and Andrew Thompson, great granddaughters, Brinley, Brooklyn and Emma Thompson, Morgan White, brother, Excel Hester and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be the John Gramling Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to College Heights Baptist Church, 441 Rabbittown Road, Glencoe, AL 35905.
Special thanks is extended to Dr. Webb Sledge and Staff, his caregivers, Judy, Brenda, Samantha and Jennifer, and the staff of Compassionate Comforters.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.
