Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Harold George Christopher, 81, of Southside, who passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Harold graduated from Southside High School in 1954. He proudly served in the United States Army, and retired from LTV/Republic Steel after over 40 years of employment. Harold was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. He had a special talent for training bird dogs. In his later years he especially enjoyed the calm of the Coosa River from his back porch. Harold was a lifelong member of Southside Baptist Church. Harold will be remembered most for the love, loyalty and dependability he provided his family.
He was the sixth of eight children born to Charles Rich Christopher and Leila Sewell Christopher. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Roxanne Christopher; brothers; Charles Christopher, Al H. Christopher, and Loyd Lee Christopher; and sister, Francis Kirkland.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 30 years, Patricia Griffith Christopher; daughters, Carol (Scott) Brodbeck; and Kelly (Fred) MacNeil; chosen children, Emily Hawk (Roger) Mills; Paul Hawk, Patrick Hawk, and Teddy (Kim) Hawk; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise C. McMeekin; twin brother, Howard Christopher; and brother, Jerry Christopher.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church.
