Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Gloria K. "Mimi" Burns, 90, who passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016. The Rev. John Dickerson will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing. Mrs. Burns was a member of East Gadsden Baptist Church for 80 years. She held many positions within the church while able. Mrs. Burns worked for doctors and dentists in the Gadsden area and was the Manager of Agricola Beauty Salon until her retirement. She was very family oriented and she loved her family.Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon "G.A." and Stella Mae Nelson; sister, Louise Nelson Brown; brother, Jimmy Nelson; nephew, Jay Nelson; and great-grandmother, Catherine Jones.She is survived by her husband, Alex W. Burns; daughters, Carol (Robert) Stephens and Lynita (Joe) Stuart; grandchildren, Steve (Linda) Higdon, Laura (Patrick) Paige and Cassie Thrasher; great-grandchildren, Krista, Brendan, Ashton and Kylie Paige; and niece, Jan (James) Griffith.Pallbearers will be Steve Higdon, Ronnie Turner, Clark Kennedy, Jerry Higdon, Jim Clark and Joe Stuart.Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to East Gadsden Baptist Church.Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, especially Randi, Lacey and special caregivers, Linda George and Julie Brown.The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. before the service.Online condolences may be made at www.collier-butler.com
