Ed (Sonny) Robertson, of Rainbow City, Alabama passed away May 13 at the age of 84. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel. Graveside service with Military Honors will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. James F. Robertson and Mrs. Cora Lee Cox Robertson and his beloved sister Ms. Jimmie Lee Taylor, all of Gadsden. He is survived by his daughter Ms. Joan Elizabeth Robertson of Attalla, his son Mr. E. Brian Robertson (Laura), and granddaughter Emma Carlton Robertson of Birmingham.
Ed graduated from Gadsden High School as a member of the class of 1946. His early career in radio announcing in Anniston and Meridian, MS was a favorite time. He served his country faithfully and dutifully having achieved the rank of colonel in the 121st ARCOM unit of the U.S. Army Reserves and retiring as an Inspector from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
He served his community as a past President of both the Birmingham and Alabama Alliance for the Mentally Ill. He was a Board member of Mental Health America of Etowah County and a member of The American Legion.
He loved music, flying, and living on the water, but most of all he loved his family.

Visitation is Thursday from 12:00p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to service.
