Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Doug Phillips, 58, of Boaz, who passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Rev. Chip Vann and Rev. Philip Elliott will officiate. Burial will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Phillips was born in Akron, Ohio and moved to Gadsden in 1962. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 18 years of service. He was an active member of Forrest Home Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He loved coaching baseball, Auburn Football, working on the farm, and was a great encourager to young people.
He was preceded in death by his father, D. Leon Phillips; brother, Daniel Alan Phillips; and granddaughter Breanne Tidmore.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carmela Lowery Phillips; daughter, Brooke (Brandon) McBurnett; son, Zach (Lauren) Phillips; daughter, Christine Phillips; step-son, Micah Downs; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Krislyn Tidmore, Carson Reed and (soon-to-be grandchild), Cole Phillips; mother, Mary E. Phillips; sister, Cindy (Alan) Stansfield; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brandon McBurnett, Brandon Chandler, Ryan Chandler, Kyle Quinn, Blake Gamberi, and Daniel McGuire.
