Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Dress will be casual. If you have a "Team Payne" or periwinkle "Warrior" T-shirt, please feel free to wear either.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Collier– Butler Funeral Home with the Rev. Dee Dowdy of Rainbow City First United Methodist and Brother Dave Roberts officiating. A private burial will be held at Williams Southside Memorial Park following the service. Arrangements are by Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
Chris was born in Gadsden to Winfred and Margaret Payne on Aug. 28, 1960.
He celebrated almost 28 wonderful year of marriage with his wife, Gina Campbell Payne.
He worked at Physician's Home Health Super Store for 15 years as the manager of patient care technicians and the purchasing and warehouse manager, but in their words, he was known as "the grease to their wheels."
He was an active member of Rainbow City First United Methodist Church and served as an usher for the Crossroads worship service and as a trustee.
He loved spending time with his children and being "Pops" to his grandchildren. He enjoyed the beach, Auburn football, grilling out and had big dreams of owning a VW bus.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Margaret Payne.
He is survived by his wife, Gina; children, Lance (Kerrie) Bradley, Lisa (Matt) Medders; fur children, Beasley and Charlie; grandchildren, Jacob Bradley and Declan Medders; fur grandchild, Bella; brothers and sister, David (June) Payne, Corky Payne, Jane Matlock, a host of nephews and nieces and feathered friend, Pongo.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
