Carl Dee Johnson

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Carl Dee Johnson, age 79, of Wetumpka, AL formerly of Gadsden. He passed away Monday, December 11, 2017, at home with family by his side. Dr. Max Barton will officiate. Burial will be at Free Home Cemetery, Grant, AL. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Carl was a 1956 graduate of KDS DAR School, Grant, AL. He worked at Whiting Corporation for 23 years and later at Gulf States Steel for 20 years as a supervisor. He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church, now known as Higher Ground Baptist Church. He later moved to Wetumpka, AL to be near his grandchildren where he became a member of Redland Baptist Church.

Carl is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Byram Johnson; son, Keith Johnson; daughter, Kayla Johnson (Chris) Panehal; grandchildren, Christina and Collin Panehal; brothers, Gary (JoAnn) Caudle and Don (Faye) Irwin; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Kate Duncan Smith DAR School for Lane Chapel at 4077 Main St., Grant, AL 35747.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 15, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
