Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at Young’s Chapel Congregational Methodist Church for Mr. Billy Morgan, Jr., 85, of Gadsden who went to be with his Lord Thursday, December 31, 2015. Rev. Bobby Hooper will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mr. Morgan proudly served in the U S Air Force for 20 years. He served in Occupied Japan, Berlin Air Lift, Hungarian Uprising, Korean Conflict, Cuban Crisis and the Vietnam War.
After retiring from the Air Force he worked at Tate Mitchem Tractor for 28 years.
Mr. Morgan loved to fish and hunt with his family and enjoyed his many trips out West.
Preceding him in death was his first born; Michael Morgan, parents; William and Ophelia Morgan, brothers; James and Ray Morgan, sisters; Estell Lafallette, Maedell Lankford, Mozell Bullock and Eva Dean Gidley.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years; Carolyn Gelene Morgan, children; Tom (Sherry) Morgan, Billy (Yvonne) Morgan, Mitzi (Danny) Pritchett and Deborah Morgan, 7 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian, Andrew, Evan and Aaron Morgan, Danny Pritchett , Wesley Cliff, LaDale Lankford and David Turner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class from Union Congregational Methodist Church and Good Friends; Floyd and Doyle.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff on the 3rd, 4t and 9th Floor, as well as, the staff of ICU at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 3 pm to 5 pm Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Morgan will lie in state from 1 pm until the hour of services at the church on Monday.
