Mrs. Amelia (Millie) (Mrs. Millie) T. Lonnergan, age 78, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Sunday, January 02, 2022. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 07, 2022 at 1:00pm at St. James Catholic Church, Gadsden, Alabama. Father Jose Chacko will officiate. A private burial will be held at Ashville City Cemetery for the family. Collier-Butler Funeral Home & Cremation services in charge of arrangements.
Background: Mrs. Lonnergan was a native of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands and graduated from Holy Name of Jesus Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She spent a very rewarding career as a Registered Nurse in Surgical Services at Holy Name of Jesus Hospital and Baptist Memorial Hospital (Gadsden, Al.) Her career allowed her to touch and positively affect many lives. She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. James Catholic Church. She was a member for many years of Alabama Operating Room Nurses Association, and the Pilot Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald C. Lonnergan, Parents Felix and Margaret Turbe and sister, Catherine Turbe.
Mrs. Lonergan is survived by sons: Michael Phillip Lonnergan (Jolaine), Christopher Joel Lonnergan (Donna) Daughter: Joan Marie Cook. Grandchildren: Christopher Aaron Lonnergan, Matthew Ryan Lonnergan, Zoë Elizabeth Lonnergan, Jordan Briggs Cook. Brother Jean Leslie Turbe (Lorraine) of St, Thomas USVI Sister Marie Elaine Dorfman Boca Raton, Florida. Several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
