Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Inurnment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Bob was born May 31, 1926 in Cross Timbers, Missouri to M.H. and Laura Bailey Lewis and they preceded him in death. He was married to Georgia “Jean” Fitzsimmons on July 27, 1950 in New Bloomfield, Missouri.
He attended Fulton High School and graduated from Granger High School in 1943. He enlisted at an early age in the U.S. Navy and served as a Bombardier aboard an SBD Douglas airplane in the South Pacific during World War II. He was able to participate in a Central Missouri Honor Flight trip in 2012.
After his military service he worked at Gambles Store on Court Street in Fulton. Bob later worked for several years for Fyr Fyter in Columbia until moving to the Lake of the Ozark area where he worked at Golden Beach Marina. Bob and Jean loved to travel. After his retirement, they purchased a motor home and traveled around the country for the next 15 years.
He was an avid bowler and he enjoyed boating and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean; sons, David A. Lewis and James D. (Suzanne) Lewis all of Plano, Texas; daughter, Jo (Kevin) Cunningham of Fulton; sister, Ann (Wallace) Jones of Taveras, Florida; grandchildren, Robert Adam Lewis, Emily Brooke Lewis, Cara Ann (Amado Gonzales) Lewis, Brett Daniel (Joshena Lee) Cunningham, Brady James (Suzin Dopplick) Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Edom, Eli, Regann and Jace.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Roy, Paul and Dick Lewis; sisters, Betty Davenport, Virginia Calton, Carolyn Easton and granddaughter, Regina Jo Lewis.
