Jerry was born on September 7, 1961 in Columbia, MO the son of William and Martha (Jordan) Coleman. He was united in marriage on September 11, 1987 in Columbia, MO to Brenda (Stone) Coleman, who preceded him in death on April 13, 2022. He worked for the University Hospital as a Construction Foreman until 2000. He was the minister at Huntsdale Baptist Church since 2017 and also worked in prison ministries since 2009. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and arrowhead hunting. He also enjoyed watching all sports, including NASCAR. His greatest joy was singing, writing songs, playing his guitar and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include: four daughters, Amber Coleman of Eldon, MO, Kristina Coil (Jason) of Clark, MO, Amanda Lucas (Terry) of Centralia, MO and Tanita Jeffries (Virgil) of Eldon, MO; his mother, Martha Coleman of Columbia, MO; two sisters, Milly Biggs (Danny) of Centralia, MO and Becky Groseclose of Sturgeon, MO; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Vincent, father, William “Bill” Coleman; son-in-law, Michael Wade and brother-in-law- Tom Groseclose.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 10:00 am – 11:30 am at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, MO. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Jack Baize and Rev. Ed Luebbering officiating. Burial will be held in Mt Nebo Cemetery near Columbia, MO.
