Doris was born on March 12, 1930 in Chamois, MO the daughter of Henry and Florence (Curtit) Smith who preceded her in death. On June 5, 1976 she was united in marriage in Fulton, MO to Harold Dean Kirk who preceded her in death on January 3, 2012. She was of the Catholic faith. Doris was a certified CMT, she also worked in the cafeteria at William Woods College, retiring after 17 years, she enjoyed the students and was always full of energy. After retirement, she and Harold enjoyed traveling and sightseeing, some of their favorite places to visit were Nevada, Arizona and the Grand Ole Opry in Tennessee. Doris was known for her homemade dinner rolls, her extreme decorating skills during Christmas time and as a graceful dancer, especially the waltz.
Survivors include her daughter, Paula Gabelsberger (Don) of Frankenstein, MO; three sons, David McKnight (Wanda) of Alamo, TN, Dean McKnight (Shirley) of Jefferson City, MO and Dale McKnight of Fulton, MO; four grandchildren, Kevin Gabelsberger (Michelle), Curtis Gabelsberger (Nicole), Jared McKnight and April McKnight; five great-grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Maria, Grayson and Ellie and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis McKnight; granddaughter, Danielle Gabelsberger and one brother, Perry Smith and his wife, Janice.
Private family services will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Debo Funeral Home with Deacon John Neudecker officiating. Burial will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton, MO.
