Cashman, Thomas Joseph, Sr. of Dana Point, passed away on January 7th, 2015 at the age of 82. Tom was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of John and Genevieve Cashman. The family moved to California, settling in Anaheim where Tom attended local schools and Anaheim High School graduating class of 1950. Tom continued his education majoring in Business and Computer Science. Enlisting in the Air Force, he became an instructor teaching Morse Code. Continuing his education at Cal State Los Angeles majoring in Education & Computer Science. Tom wed Merilyn Gentry and they had seven children; Penelope, Timothy, Candice, Kristy, and Todd. Tom was preceded in death by two sons; Ty Gabriel Cashman, in 1986 and Thomas Joseph Cashman, Jr., in 2011. Tom leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and one sister, Caroline Michalik, of Henderson, Nevada. Tom loved teaching and did so at Long Beach City College for 33 years in Computer Science. He wrote his first book and formed his own Publishing Company. Later writing for Thompson International Publishing of Toronto, Canada, Boston, Massachusetts, and London. His books co-authored with Gary Shelly were very successful, exceeding sales of 20 million copies to date. He was a renowned Author in the computer field. Tom had a passion for family, friends and enjoying Merilyn's many holiday gatherings with his big family. He enjoyed church on Sundays with his family at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. It is with a heavy heart that we lay our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother to rest. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at McAulay & Wallace Chapel in Fullerton, Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.
