Michael Edward Dunn

BELOVED FATHER, GRANDFATHER, SON AND BROTHER Michael Edward Dunn, 49, of Brea, California, died in his sleep October 10th, 2015. Mike was born July 27th, 1966 in Mountain View, California, the 2nd of 4 children born to Lieutenant Commander (retired) Edward P. Dunn and Bernadette Savage Dunn. As a military family they moved frequently. He graduated from Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, Virginia and attended USC for 2 years. Mike worked at Disneyland for over 10 years during which he earned certifications in "IT Geek." He spent his remaining years working in the insurance field primarily as an IT consultant and expert. Along the way Mike inherited two daughters, Melanie and Amanda. His pride and joy were his grandchildren Faith and Seth. Mike liked most people but he loved all kids and spent countless hours volunteering and coaching soccer teams, working as a camp counselor for at-risk kids, and as a Breakfast Brave for Indian Princesses. Survivors include his daughter Melanie Piercy, granddaughter Faith and their dog Chester; daughter Amanda Vetter, her husband Chris and grandson Seth; his parents Ed and Bernadette Dunn; his sister Beth Dunn; his brother Patrick Dunn, his wife Ellen and their children Jennifer and Jonathan; his brother Christopher Dunn and his fiancé Shannon Chase. A public memorial reception will be held Saturday, October 17th from 2-5pm at Rose Drive Friends Church. His ashes will be scattered at sea in a private family ceremony since he loved the beach and ocean. In honor of Mike's memory and in lieu of flowers, the family's friends have started a college scholarship fund for his granddaughter Faith.
