Melvin Ernest Birdzell 10/24/1931 to 10/22/2010 Melvin Birdzell passed away peacefully on October 22nd, 2010 in Fullerton, California surrounded by those who loved him. Mel was born in Winfield Kansas and later resided in Arkansas City, Kansas until joining the military where he proudly served his country in the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, The United Nations Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal during his military time. Mel was a very generous, loving, warm man who inspired us all. His integrity and work ethic were unmatched. He retired after 35 years of driving in the auto transportation business, but we know he never truly retired . Always happiest when he was busy, Mel was the first to lend a hand to family or friends whenever there was a need. No one was more surprised than he to be touched by Jesus in his later years. He became a student of the bible, grew in his faith, serving in the Lord at church and in his daily life. Mel is survived by his loving wife Diane Birdzell, his sister Iona Sis Crane and his brother Wayne Birdzell. He will be especially missed by his step children, his grandchildren, nieces and nephews who had the deepest respect for him. Mel thank you for showing us the way; the way to live, the way to love, the way to do the right thing . You are forever in our hearts. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthymeditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, do these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9 Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, October 29, 2010 at 12:00 PM, at Richfield Community Church, 5320 Richfield Rd., Yorba Linda, CA 92886. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be mad to the St. Jude Heritage Medical Group or Virginia K. Crossen Cancer Center, 2151 N. Harbor Blvd. Fullerton, CA 92835 (714) 446-5300 or www.sjhmg.com
