Lorraine Montijo Manassero peacefully passed away at her home with her family by her side in Placentia, CA on March 23, 2018. Lorraine was born October 26, 1930 in Anaheim, CA and was the only child of Hilda Selaya Montijo and Philip Montijo. Lorraine went on to share a 60 year marriage with the late Stephen James Manassero. Lorraine is survived by her six children: Stephen, Daniel, John, Camille, Richard and Robert, in addition to 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Lorraine spent her young years in Anaheim attending St. Boniface prior to Anaheim High School. She frequently recounted the many memories of playing with her cousins, whom were like siblings, and spending time with her mother’s family. Lorraine spent most of her youth in Anaheim until settling as a longtime resident of Placentia. Over the span of her lifetime, Lorraine displayed talent in many areas including sewing and art. Lorraine was a talented seamstress and sewed clothing and Halloween costumes for her children over the years. However, Lorraine’s true passion was art, specifically, oil painting. Lorraine engaged in this hobby for many years and even entered local contests, showcasing her talents. Lorraine had many interests including music, playing cards, and reading. She loved listening to records and had an affinity for Mariachi music. Lorraine maintained many of the friendships from her youth leading to frequent bridge games, many of which were happily hosted in her home. She loved reading anything from magazines to books. In her later years, Lorraine loved playing solitaire on the computer. She never did quite warm up to an iPad or other device. In her later years, she and her husband spent some time traveling. While Lorraine may have preferred the comforts of home at times, she was forever grateful for the opportunity to see foreign places, especially Spain, one of her favorite trips. She shared fond memories of the time spent traveling with her husband. Lorraine was a welcoming and friendly soul. She was always kind to others and was a gracious host, consistently offering guests food and drink. She welcomed people into her heart and her home and made sure they did not leave with an empty stomach. Lorraine was an amazing cook and was known for her many dishes. In addition, she made wonderful desserts such as her famous German chocolate cake. She was known to take a small bite from the corner prior to ensure quality prior to serving. Lorraine was lovingly known as Nani to her family, however, friends of family would come to call her by this name as well. Lorraine lived a life of giving and selflessness. Lorraine was truly a joy to be around and made everyone who came in contact with her feel cared for. Lorraine will be remembered for her sweet voice, kind demeanor and her generosity. She will also be remembered for her sense of humor and ability to find laughter in any situation. She was truly loved by all who met her. Funeral mass will held 9:30 AM Fri. Apr. 6th at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church 5800 E. Santa Ana Canyon Rd, Anaheim. Burial to immediately follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Orange.
