"I came to a clear conclusion, and it is a universal one: to live, to struggle, to be in love with life- in love with all life holds, joyful or sorrowful- is fulfilment. The fullness of life is open to all of us."
- Betty Smith, 'A Tree Grows In Brooklyn'
Our precious Genevieve Townsend Bobo entered heaven on October 9, 2021.
Born in Harlem, but raised in Brooklyn, she called Orange County her home in 1963. A lifelong learner, Genevieve earned two Master's degrees and a Doctorate along her way. As a high school teacher, she was known as "Mrs. B." She taught at La Vista and then Troy throughout the 70's, 80's, and 90's. She was not only a memorable educator, but a caring counselor and a strong advocate for families in the courts. Genny was involved with the Crystal Cathedral since its Garden Grove Community Church days. She supported the church in many ways but, most notably, provided counseling on the suicide hotline.
Genevieve is survived by her "kittens": sons, Loren (Dalia) and Morgan (Kathy); daughters, Kari and Jennifer (John); grandchildren, Jessica (Bryan), Mariah (Justin), Eron (Brooke), Helennie, Josh (Amanda), Ben (Samantha), and Noah; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Charlotte, Blake, Brayden, Elle, Grace, Claire, and Ethan. She is also survived by her companion of many years, Gordon Anderson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Murno "Bo" Bobo - "Mr. B."
Genevieve will be laid to rest at the Cathedral Memorial Gardens in Garden Grove, California. Those wishing to honor her life can make a donation in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
