Claire C. Harley, 92, resident of Fullerton, passed away July 2, 2015. Survived by her sons Charles Jr. and Michael; 4 grandchildren and numerous family and friends. Claire graduated from Laval University, the oldest center of Education in Canada and the 4th oldest University North America. After receiving her degree in nursing she moved to America to work in the medical field. Claire worked in the polio wards before there was a polio vaccine, taking risks of catching polio to help others. During this time she also traveled the country by rail to assist in blood drives. Claire then took a job in the San Francisco Bay area working at Stanford University Hospital. It was in San Francisco that Claire met the love of her life and her lifelong companion; Charles F H Harley, who she married in 1949. They had 2 sons; Charles Jr and Michael, and lived a happy life together until Charles passed away in 1994. She continued enjoying her life, spending time with her sons and their wives; Eileen and Ann, as well as her grandson Jared and granddaughters; Alisa, Michelle and Sarah. Her greatest joy in life was to be surrounded by her family. Claire died peacefully on July 2nd, surrounded by family. We thank you Mom for all you have done for us. Thanks for all the memories. We will miss you but you will never be forgotten in our hearts. Funeral mass will be held 10 AM Thurs. July 9 at St. Juliana Falconeri Catholic Church, Fullerton. In lieu of flowers, a tribute in Claire's memory to the ASPCA to help the animals she loved so much, would be appreciated.
