Alex V. Grijalva Jr. was born in Los Angeles, California on August 17, 1951. He was the youngest of four children of Alex V. and Mary Lou Grijalva. He grew up on Morrill Street in Santa Fe Springs, California for most of his life. He liked building model cars, watching movies and spending time with his family and friends (Lee). He enjoyed the trips to Mammoth Lakes, fishing and Fourth of July in Big Bear. One of his great loves was our Labrador retriever Nathan. He often would walk with him and gave him a special nickname. Alex is survived by R. Lily Blessing, Eddie Perez (Tammera), India M. Clamp (Brian), and Christopher A. Collazo For decades he worked in retail and would come home with some interesting stories about many customers who wanted to buy alcohol long after it was prohibited to do so. He liked cooking and baking. Often he would get a recipe and then ask to go to the store to pick up all the items and bring them home to make his own creation from raw ingredients with us. Watching Kung Fu and Legends of the Fall (many times) brought him much joy. One special birthday, after a trip to the mountains he came home with bags of trout (he smiled all day long), thanks to BAC.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, December 19 at a confidential location. Alex always tried to make the best of times---despite his chronic illness. He read his bible daily and believed we all had the capacity within to be of value. He was a loving uncle, brother, friend and helper. He passed on September 4, 2021. May he rest in peace.
